I had the pleasure of working with Karen Majoris-Garrison while she was a faculty member at Eastern Gateway Community College. Karen presented a Writer's Clinic to a class of adult students through our community outreach department. Karen's class was highly praised for her writing expertise and teaching style. She was always well-prepared for class, developing her own course materials and handouts for the students. Outside the class sessions, she also devoted time to reviewing the students' work and continued to meet with the students even after class had ended to provide encouragement and friendship. Karen's personable approach as a presenter and co-worker and her devotion to her craft made her an excellent asset to the college's programs.

Karen Majoris-Garrison has a way of picking up the little things that writers miss when they are in the zone. Clarify, clarify, clarify. While in the zone, a writer forgets to remember that not everyone is aware of what they are thinking. She also picks up on movement. Getting a character from point 'A' to point 'B'. Karen constantly reminds you of this so the story isn't lost in confusion. She's helped me to better understand the difference between telling a story and showing a story. It's made a huge difference in my writing.
